Rail History Prints is owned and operated by Ken and Betty Longe of Omaha, NE. Ken retired from Union Pacific Railroad in 2001 and Betty is a Reading Recovery Teacher Leader for the Council Bluffs, Iowa community schools.
The company was started in 1987 when Ken and Betty purchased the North Platte Canteen painting, the official 1987 Union Pacific Christmas picture by artist John Bromley. Ken felt there would be a demand for prints of this painting, not only from railfans, but from many of the six million veterans who stopped at North Platte, NE during WWII. Rail History Prints was launched when hundreds of Canteen prints were immediately sold.
John Bromley, Director of Public Affairs for Union Pacific, continued to paint Christmas pictures for UP for the next six years. Rail History Prints made prints of all the Christmas paintings plus others done by Bromley and railroad artist Michael Boss of Hill City, Kansas.
The art work of John Bromley continues to be the main product of Rail History Prints, however, the company also handles work from many of the nation's leading railroad artists.
Prints produced by Rail History Prints are high quality 16" x 24" full color prints on 80# linen weave paper. Smaller pictures, depicting other railroad scenes, are printed on 11" x 14" photographic paper.
We hope our prints will bring back exciting memories of railroading from days gone by.
